Our guests tell us our Bed and Breakfast is better than many 5-star hotels they have stayed in.
The memory of the thrill when reading the first comment in our traditional guestbook remains very much alive. Our visitors’ comments are a pick-me-up on a rainy day in front of the fire because they warm from within. We are delighted to be able to share some of the wonderful comments our guests have written in our “old-fashioned” guest book in Westwood as well as the reviews and awards we have gratefully received over the years. We treasure these comments and continue to add to them over the years.
Full comments and names are in our handwritten guest book which is open to further guests when they stay with us in Westwood. Of course, we also have reviews online from wonderful people who take the time and trouble to write on various portals. allan speirs6 August 2026Where do I begin. It truly is a piece of heaven on earth. Went to this bed and breakfast Friday to Monday end of July-August 2026. The most attentive, kindest hosts my wife, Margaret and I have ever encountered. Judith and Peter were a joy to have met felt like we had known them a long time. It’s all Positive , The breakfast is beautiful. And lots of choice, full on flavour. Best fry up I have ever had and that’s the truth. Try the salmon 🍣 with cheese 🧀.. you won’t be disappointed.. Not to mention the Ciabatta with 🍅 cheese, tomato, salad in a lovely drizzle, Judith did mention that Peter is the main chef. what a credit this gentleman is to home cooking , food and table presentation is also superb what a service with an array of colour's. . Judith was ever so helpful in suggesting places of interest for me and Margaret to visit on our stay. The view from the house is breath taking, Such a relaxing, peaceful environment.and your so close to nature, Sheer bliss.Peter and Judith signify what a true host and owner of bed and breakfast should be. Both Judith and Peter have a keen eye to every detail, meticulous in every way. and the living quarters are spotless immaculate. Such a pleasure To have met Judith and Peter, It was an honour. Genuine kind helpful people that truly cared for their guests needs likes etc . I could go on and on regarding this paradise .Make this your next stay I promise you won’t regret it and all at such a reasonable price.Posted on Google

This is just outstanding, words beyond belief so pleased I found this for us nearing the end of almost 6 weeks away from Brisbane Australia I give a 10 out of 10.Posted on Google
Thomas Jones24 June 2026My wife and I have stayed at Westwood 37 times since 2018 and have always enjoyed a warm welcome from the lovely hosts, Judith and Peter. This June, 2026, was no exception. Nothing was too much trouble for them to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. They serve an excellent breakfast with great a selection of English or Continental. Westwood is in a lovely location with magnificent views from the lounge. It has a dedicated guest entrance so you can come and go as you please or just stay in all day and relax if you wish.Posted on Google

Pauline Buckley25 October 2025We have stayed at Westwood the B&B with a view on a number of occasions and always look forward to going there again. The super king size bed is extremely comfortable with lovely bed linen. There are tea making facilities with a good choice of tea, coffee and hot chocolate, also a coffee machine and we love having the sole use of a fridge with fresh milk provided every day. It is also nice to have the use of the very comfortable lounge and admire the amazing view. There is a lovely garden with plenty of seating, weather permitting. The breakfasts are delicious with an extensive choice and beautifully presented with unbelievable attention to detail. Judith and Peter are the perfect hosts and nothing is too much trouble. Westwood is a perfect base for a stay in the Lake District with easy access to many beautiful places.Posted on Google

Gavin Simpson14 July 2025The drive upto Westwood is beautiful and just gets better as you arrive. We booked this B&B directly and got the best price and the service over the telephone was also outstanding and made it even more exciting to go. Prior to arriving we received a very personal message with the check in and check out times. Upon arrival we was greeted firstly by Judith a lovely warm welcome who shown us into our beautiful room Blue Willow Mountain View. The room was very spacious and everything you need and more inside them. Just outside the room you have your own small fridge with small freezer inside this has fresh cold filtered water and fresh milk. We then got to meet Peter who was also very friendly and welcoming. We then got shown into the lounge area and outside seating area. First impressions of this was just WOW the views are outstanding and the property grounds are very well looked after and cared for. There is a menu in your room for you to choose your breakfast they ask for this to be completed by 7pm as everything they cook is freshly bought and cooked. The menu had everything on it you could wish for. At this point there was only me and my partner in the B&B and honestly it felt like home Judith and Peter where always there if needed other than that you was just left to enjoy your time and space and their beautiful place. Next morning we woke up after an amazing sleep in a comfortable bed. We went into the lounge area where Judith was setting up our table so we sat outside and waited for it to be 9am as this was the time we selected for breakfast. Judith seen we was sat outside and asked if we would like to eat on the balcony well my face must of said it all as next thing she was moving our set up to outside I was very grateful for this and Judith was happy to do this for us. Breakfast I had a full English with cereal to start my partner had the BIG full English. The food served presentation was 10/10 and the taste was off the scale. We also had a apple juice and a orange juice again this was all fresh. The sausage was the nicest Judith advised they was from a local award winning butchers you could tell. This B&B is the best I have ever been anyone who looks to book this should as I promise you will have no regrets. 5* is not high enough thank you both for making our stay perfect from booking over the phone to the moment we left.Posted on Google

We appreciate the cozy, comfortable room with all the amenities, down to coffee and tea in the room. The lounge is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the incredible, peaceful view. So happy we had a sunny morning to enjoy your lovingly-prepared full English breakfast overlooking the beautiful garden. Delicious!
